Oiler CAD Model
I figure I should let folks know what I've been up to, and how far I've gotten on the Oiler conversion to CAD plans. I started with the line drawings, and plotted the provided hull contours. Placing them into a 3-d space according to the 2-d plans, I was able to generate a full hull form (a mesh, for those who know 3d modeling and CAD). From that, I am going to generate actual ribs.
Included below is a screen-grab of the current wireframe state of the model.
The blocks that will become transverse ribs are in place. The will be trimmed to fit, and then fitted together (think 3-d jig-saw puzzle). The resulting ribs, caprail, and keel will then be re-mapped into a 2-d plane for feeding to a CNC router.

Re: Oiler CAD Model
What is the latest on this project!? Drew and I are eager to try cutting some parts and seeing how they work out.
Re: Oiler CAD Model
I made some progress on this on Friday... but ran into a stumbling block, and wound up reverting to an earlier state to take a different tack. Maybe if I have any energy left after my next round of digging snow.....
